COVID-19 Plan for Child Well-being and Resilience

The Challenge

The 2020 Pandemic has introduced mental health and well-being challenges to caregivers and children alike. These challenges include long-term isolation from friends and social networks; loss of regular access to supportive adults and structure; sharp increases in domestic violence and child physical/sexual abuse in quarantine; loss of loved ones and inability to grieve in traditional ways; financial and economic insecurity; and mental health and developmental issues.

Our Response

NLG partnered with Harvard University and McLean Hospital's PEAR Institute to present an innovative, sustainable, and scalable plan to support children’s resilience amidst the pandemic. The Return To Learning plan will provide practical self-care and child-care guidance for parents and educators as children transition back to learning.
